Celadon’s Leadership Team
Paul Svindland was named Celadon CEO in July 2017. Prior to joining Celadon, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Farren International Holdings, Inc., a private equity backed holding company for multiple trucking companies, since its merger with EZE Trucking Holdings, Inc. in July 2016.
Before that, Mr. Svindland served as Chief Executive Officer of EZE Trucking Holdings, Inc. since April 2014. Prior to joining EZE, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Pacer International, (now an XPO company), a leading intermodal and logistics provider. Prior to Pacer International, Mr. Svindland was a Managing Director of AlixPartners LLP, a global business-advisory firm. Mr. Svindland’s experience also includes several years in management roles with Maersk Inc., the world’s largest steamship line.
Mr. Svindland serves on the boards of Stella Environmental Services and The Salzberg Program at The Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University. Mr. Svindland earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University School of Management and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
Jon Russell was appointed to the position of President, Chief Operating Officer in May 2017. Prior to this, he was President of Celadon Logistics from November 2010 and served as Executive Vice President of Logistics since August 2007. He also served as President & CEO of TruckersB2B, a joint-venture between Celadon Group and Electronic Funds Source, LLC. Before joining TruckersB2B in May 2000 as VP of Operations, Mr. Russell had been a Vice President in the Global Corporate Investment Bank of Citigroup for six years. While at Citigroup, he was responsible for the management of the New York Treasury non-dollar fixed-income portfolio. Mr. Russell has previously been selected by the Indianapolis Business Journal for its annual ‘Forty Under 40.’ The recognition is for local business and professional leaders who have achieved success before the age of 40. Mr. Russell holds a bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Cornell University.
Thom Albrecht was named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial & Strategy Officer in October 2017. Mr. Albrecht has been a transportation industry analyst since 1988 and served as President of Sword & Sea Transport, LLC, a consulting company focusing on market research, growth strategies, e-commerce and capacity analysis for freight transportation carriers and shippers in 2016-2017. Prior to joining Sword & Sea Transport, he served as a Managing Director at both BB&T Capital Markets and Stephens Inc. Mr. Albrecht was a Chartered Financial Analyst (1993-2017)and holds a B.S. in business administration with a Finance major from the University of Central Missouri. He was a multiple winner of “best analyst” awards from the Wall Street Journal, Institutional Investor magazine, StarMine and other services. He was on the Federal Reserve Beige Book committee (2011-2017).
Chase Welsh was named Executive Vice President of Risk Management, General Counsel and Secretary in October of 2017. Mr. Welsh joined Celadon in June of 2013 and previously served as Vice President of Risk Management. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Purdue University and a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Prior to joining Celadon, Mr. Welsh engaged in the private practice of law, representing both individual and corporate clients.
Michael Gabbei was named VP – Chief Information Officer in 2005. Mr. Gabbei joined Celadon in April 1997 as Vice President – Information Technology. He was named Chief Information Officer in 2005. Prior to Celadon, he worked at Woods Industries, a manufacturing company, as Director of Technology for 9 years and at Whiteford Truck Lines as Application Development Manager for 7 years. He additionally has over 8 years in distribution experience. Mr. Gabbei attended IUPUI and studied Computer Technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in the transportation industry.
